Lanai High & Elementary School is closed today after an unexpected power outage left the campus without electricity, the Hawaii Department of Education said.

The closure, announced this morning, affects all students and staff. School officials said they are unable to provide meal services during the outage.

Crews are working with the utility company to restore power, and the department said updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
