CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) - The Cleveland Guardians have officially released first-baseman Carlos Santana.
He was placed on waivers earlier in the week, but was not claimed by another team.
Santana is batting .225 with 11 home runs and 52 RBIs for Cleveland this season.
He signed a one-year free agent with the Guardians back in December after Josh Naylor was traded to Arizona.
Santana's release ends his third stint with the Cleveland organization having appeared in 1,450 games while posting a batting average of .249 with 227 home runs and 762 RBIs.
In addition to the Guardians, he has also played for the Phillies, Royals, Mariners, Pirates, Brewers, and Twins in 16 MLB seasons.
