The owners of a dilapidated shopping center won’t be in court until the spring, and Northwood City Council members would like to see action sooner.
A lawsuit against Northwood Dhaliwal Plaza, LLC, formerly known as Great Eastern Shopping Center, on Woodville Road, was filed in November by the city.
Councilman Dean Edwards asked for an update at last week’s meeting.
“It’s in shambles,” he said of the shopping center.
Kevin Laughlin, Northwood administrator, said a trial date has been set for April, but he is hoping for a summary judgment before then.
“There’s ongoing issues with safety, fire suppression. A number of the units do not have water or gas. The parking lot is falling apart, you name it,” Mr. Laughlin said.
