GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A traffic stop led to the seizure of approximately five kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of two individuals on trafficking charges.

According to the report, officers observed a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse with Texas license plates following too close and engage in multiple evasive maneuvers upon spotting law enforcement.

The vehicle abruptly turned into Summit Crossing Place, where the passenger, later identified as Roberto Azama-Rodriguez, jumped from the vehicle and ran off carrying a weighted box. Officers pursued Azama-Rodriguez into a nearby wooded area, where he was seen discarding the box into a creek.

He was quickly detained, and officers recovered the discarded box. Inside, investigators discovered approximately five kilograms of cocaine.
