CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) -- The passenger who was ejected from a vehicle during an August 22 crash on Johns Island has been identified by the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

The victim was identified as Julian Navarro-Hernandez, 30, from Johns Island. The exact time of his death is unknown, according to the coroner's office.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to Fickling Hill Road around 7 p.m. that evening for reports of a crash.

While investigating, the driver told an on-scene deputy that there was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputies searched the surrounding area and further questioned the driver, who then stated they “were the sole occupant,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
