The province’s Child Death Review Committee is recommending that the provincial government consider a public education campaign emphasizing the legal requirements and penalties related to the Off-Road Safety Act.

In particular, the committee wants added attention brought to the regulations surrounding the operation of off-road vehicles by children and the responsibilities of parents, owners and supervisors.

The Child Death Review Committee is required to make recommendations relating to protocols, policies, procedures, standards and legislation.

The Fatalities Investigations Act requires the Department of Justice and Public Safety to release the committee’s recommendations within 60 days of receiving the committee’s report into the death of a child.
