KINGSTON, N.Y. — A soon-to-be-released Pattern for Progress report on Midtown Kingston found a strong need for deeply affordable housing options to avoid displacement.
The findings are contained in the housing section of a larger report prepared by the organization for the city as part of the Midtown Thriving project, as the city seeks state Brownfield Opportunity Area designation for swaths of Midtown that once housed industrial concerns but may be contaminated.
Pattern President and CEO Adam Bosch said in a telephone interview this week that the state program offers a range of incentives from tax credits for development to funds for historic preservation and upgrades of playgrounds.
