LANESBORO, Minn. — The Root River has reopened for recreational activities after high water levels from recent heavy rains receded. Starting Friday, local outfitters in Lanesboro will again rent equipment for tubing, canoeing, and kayaking. “While there’s no single cut-off point for river height or velocity that makes the water definitively safe or unsafe, our local outfitters are diligent about monitoring river gauges, communicating with each other, and consulting with the DNR to make day-by-day decisions after heavy rains on whether it’s safe to rent equipment,” said Joe Goetzke, Executive Director of the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce. “Anyone using their own gear should also monitor conditions and follow proper safety practices.” The Minnesota Department of Na
