BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Super Derby is making its return to Louisiana Downs on Sept. 6, for the 43rd Annual running of the prestigious race. The event brings back one of the region’s most celebrated horse racing traditions.

First run in 1980, the Super Derby quickly rose to national prominence, attracting top trainers, jockeys and thoroughbreds from across the country. Known as one of the premier races for 3-year-olds, the Derby has produced a legacy of champions and memorable finishes that helped put Louisiana Downs on the national racing map.

Officials at Louisiana Downs say this year’s Super Derby will highlight not only the high-level competition on the track, but also a festival-like atmosphere for fans, with special events and entertainment surrounding race day.
