CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — A cat shelter in Carbon County will open its doors once again after a ringworm outbreak forced it to close.

Carbon County Friends of Animals closed earlier this month to prevent the spread of the fungal infection.

The shelter will reopen to the public again on Tuesday, September 2, but only for visitors and adoptions.

Kittens were the ones most affected by the outbreak. Their ringworm is now under control; however, the shelter says it cannot take in any more cats until some of the animals in its care are adopted.
