Nature At The Confluence will host a presentation on food history Sept. 6.
The event will feature Cynthia Clampitt, a 2025 Illinois Humanities Road Scholar Speaker, according to a community announcement.
Clampitt will discuss "How Corn Changed Itself and Then Changed Everything Else" at 1 p.m. The program is sponsored by Illinois Humanities and is free to the public. It is recommended for ages 10 and up.
Clampitt has been exploring food history for three decades and has written two books on the subject. Her work has taken her to 37 countries, but she has recently focused on the American Midwest.
The presentation is part of Beloit Heritage Days, a weekend celebration of local history and culture. Events will take place Sept. 5-7, and details can be found at BeloitHeritageDays.com . Pa
