CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — Chapman Elementary School is one of multiple places in the state where police patrols are increasing after a recent shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school.

As children return to school this week, police across the state are taking extra precautions to ensure their safety is a priority.

"We implemented our police officers to be at the schools throughout the day, being a resource to the community, making sure they feel a sense of safety and we are providing that with our actions of active patrol," Middletown Police Chief Erik Costa said.
