HOPEWELL, Va. (WWBT) - A 44-year-old man has been arrested months after a child was struck and killed by a car.
On May 19, Hopewell police responded to the 400 block of South 19th Ave for the report that a toddler had been hit by a car.
Officers arrived on the scene and found a two-year-old boy seriously injured.
He was then taken to the TriCities Hospital, where he later died.
Neighbors told 12 On Your Side back in May that the little boy was in the driveway when the car backed over him.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, Hopewell Police arrested Jacob Thomas Joseph Gerard, 44, of Stony Creek, and charged him with aggravated involuntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice.
Gerard was taken to Riverside Regional Jail, where he is held without bond.
