FORT MILL, S.C. (WBTV) - An off-duty officer died after crashing into a car in York County on Wednesday morning, the coroner announced Thursday.
The 30-year-old Mecklenburg County detention officer, Aaron Tindall, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
He had been employed with the sheriff’s office since April 2, 2025.
What happened
The two-car collision reportedly happened around noon on Wednesday, Aug. 27, along Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill.
Officials said Tindall crossed the center line, struck another vehicle, and died as a result of the crash.
The driver of the other car was rushed to an area hospital, troopers said.
