HOUSTON (CW39) — The City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is adjusting scheduling for curbside collection services and facility operations for the Labor Day holiday and the days following.

All curbside collections and SWMD facilities will be closed Monday, September 1, 2025 for the Labor Day holiday. Recycling normally scheduled for Monday will instead be collected on residents’ next regular recycling day.

Here’s the updated holiday schedule:

Monday, Sept. 1 (Labor Day): No curbside collection. All SWMD offices and facilities closed.

Tuesday, Sept. 2: Monday’s garbage and tree waste will be collected. SWMD offices and facilities reopen. Recycling resumes on residents’ next scheduled day.
