Regarding the Aug. 26 front-page article “AI private school comes to Va., for $65K a year”:

I’m concerned about replacing human teachers with artificial intelligence platforms, especially in a for-profit context.

Though AI can present information, it isn’t an effective replacement for a teacher. Teaching involves mentorship, emotional support, and asking stimulating questions to help build critical thinking and social skills, which are areas where AI falls short. Education is about more than delivering facts; it’s also about preparing students to navigate a complex world through human connections, collaboration and problem-solving.
