SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — A girl who was swept into a drainage system in Sarasota has died, according to a GoFundMe organized by a close family friend.
"It is with a broken heart I have to share that Zaria has received the ultimate healing, and is in the arms of Jesus," a Thursday update to the GoFundMe page said.
Zaria Miller was outside playing when she got sucked into the storm drain Sunday.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said it was due to a water main break that occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Bahia Vista Street. The strong water flow carried Miller around 100 yards through the drain.
First responders found Miller and took her to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. However, she did not survive her injuries.
Donations to help Miller and her family quickly started pouring in after the GoF
