Two well-seasoned men have returned to the sidelines in Engadine this year, hoping to get their 8-man football program back on the winning track.
Howard Hood, 60, returns as head coach with Joe Austin, 71, as assistant coach.
Hood previously coached and played for the Eagles. Michigan High School Hall of Fame coach Joe Austin came out of a one-year retirement to join Hood. Austin retired from coaching at Newberry in 2023.
What is even more interesting is that over four decades ago, Austin coached Hood at Engadine in football, so they have an undeniable connection regarding Engadine football.
