Friends Bryan and Allison Condon were sheltering at a New Orleans hospital during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 when they were 17 years old

They witnessed a major power outage and flooding inside the hospital before they were evacuated several days later

Today, the couple, who later reconnected and married in 2012, are raising their two young children in Kenner, La.

Growing up, Bryan and Allison Condon were no strangers at Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans.

Whenever a major storm hit the area, the two childhood friends and their respective family members usually went to the hospital, where their mothers worked as nurses, to shelter in place.
