Three people were arrested Wednesday in connection with three separate fatal shootings that occurred across the city this month, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Police did not share what the evidence led to the arrests in any of the cases.

One killed in New Orleans East

Helmer Valeriano-Ordonez, 23, was arrested in the 710 block of S. Broad Street in Mid-City in connection with a shooting that left Jarvin Velasquez dead earlier this month, police said.

Valeriano-Ordonez was booked into the New Orleans jail on a count of second-degree murder.

On Aug. 9, Velasquez arrived at a hospital in the early morning after being shot in the 7800 block of Almonaster Avenue. He later died, police said. Authorities did not immediately release Velasquez's age or say when he died.
