KINGSTON, N.Y. — While a number of other pros and their amateur partners were still finishing up their rounds, the trio of Long Island pros Dylan Newman and Matt Dobyns and sporting goods company director of sales Alex Beach headed off to a three-man playoff at the 48th annual YMCA/Wiltwyck Pro-Am at the Wiltwyck Golf Club on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Tournament officials decided to start the playoff early since none of the other pros remaining on the course had a chance to catch the three top players who each finished at 6-under-66.

Newman, a 34-year-old assistant pro at the Meadow Brook Club on Long Island, prevailed in the playoff by making birdies on the two playoff holes (Nos. 1 and 2) to take home a $5,000 payday. It was the largest first-place award in the tournament’s history.
