IndyCar could be coming to DC.

IndyCar may be exploring a possible street race in DC to celebrate the US's 250th anniversary, though it could be too late in the game, according to a new report.

Adam Stern from the Sports Business Journal reported that IndyCar officials are in the early stages of planning a possible race in the nation's capital, though are still in their infancy as IndyCar winds down its 2025 schedule this weekend in Nashville.

The report speculates that the race could come to fruition after Fox Corp. purchased a 33 percent stake of IndyCar owner Penske Entertainment and has vowed to put on big-time races to help build the sport.

No details about a potential race in DC have been released.

According to the report, the last time there was an IndyCar street race in DC was in 2002 around RFK Stadium. It is unclear where a potential race would happen next year, or whether it could be outside the Capitol in neighboring Maryland or Virginia.

Officials are not expected to release the 2026 IndyCar schedule until next week at the earliest.
