TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A film screening will be held at AMC Veterans Expressway for a film adaptation of Stephen King's "The Long Walk."

The film, directed by "Hunger Games" franchise director Francis Lawrence and written by JT Mollner, is based on King's first-written novel, published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman eight years after his first-published novel, "Carrie."

The novel is set in a dystopian, alternate universe where the United States is run by a totalitarian regime that forces young men to participate in a yearly, deadly walking contest.

WFLA's Chip Hansen, an Emmy-winning television director and member of the Critics' Choice Association, will be hosting the screening and will host a discussion panel about the film's themes.
