Zach Marker was still learning the Delaware offense as a recent transfer when he was pressed into duty to start three games when Ryan O’Connor was hurt in 2023.

He was recovering from reconstructive knee surgery in 2024 when injuries to O’Connor and Nick Minicucci forced him off the bench.

Now the Blue Hens’ starting quarterback job is Marker’s to start the 2025 football season. He earned it thanks to his experience, familiarity with the offense and dual-threat abilities, and expects to be as ready as ever when Delaware and Delaware State kick off at 7 p.m. in the season opener at Delaware Stadium.
