SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Sioux Falls libraries will remain open until 8 p.m. despite the proposed 2-hour cut, thanks to an additional $200,000 from the general fund.

During the joint budget hearing on August 26, the city council and county commission approved the budgets for Siouxland Libraries, Siouxland Heritage Museums and Metro Communications.

The proposal for the libraries included closing the Sioux Falls and Brandon locations two hours early to save on operating costs.

“After 6 p.m., we’re seeing only about 6% of our walk-in checkouts for the day,” Boysen said
