GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) -- The Charleston Animal Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest after 18 small dogs were found abandoned at a busy Goose Creek intersection.

Goose Creek officers were notified that more than a dozen small dogs were running around the intersection of Red Bank Road and Highway 52 the morning of Monday, Aug. 25, according to the animal society.

Animal control officers successfully recovered 17 chihuahua-dachshund mixed breed dogs over the next few days and took them to the Charleston Animal Society's Berkeley Campus in Moncks Corner.

One dog officials believe is connected was found dead in the road next to where the others dogs were picked up. Investigators believe the dog was hit by a vehicle. Animal control officers are still
