ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCBD) - The Isle of Palms is gearing up for big crowds for Labor Day weekend. Law enforcement and businesses are making last minute preparations to ensure locals and visitors have a safe and fun holiday.

"Everybody's trying to grab that last little piece of summer" said Jeff Chaffin, employee of the Windjammer.

Labor Day weekend is expected to bring in large crowds of people to the Isle of Palms, and first responders are staffing up.

The Isle of Palms Chief of Police, Kevin Cornett, said they always up staff first, on the police side and on the fire side. "We'll have people out here patrolling the beach while people are patrolling the roads, and we'll be here to help you if you call or if you need anything.” said Cornett.
