A Los Angeles man was arrested for stealing copper wire from the city of Arcadia, causing the temporary interruption of 911 calls, the Arcadia Police Department said Thursday.
Police said, during the early hours of Aug. 7, 2025, the Arcadia Police Department’s communications center experienced a system failure, which prevented dispatchers from receiving 911 calls.

Officials urgently implemented “redundant measures” to make sure public safety services were not interrupted, police said.
But as investigators were trying to determine the source of the 911 call outage, they discovered some of the underground communication lines were missing in the area of South Santa Anita Avenue near Huntington Drive. Police said som
