WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - As commuters prepare to get away for the Labor Day weekend, both AAA and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation reminds people to take their time and prepare to head out early to get where they’re going to safely.

AAA says the worst travel times for Thursday fall between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., so a lot of western Mass commuters should be in the thick of it during those times.

Western Mass News spoke to AAA Northeast Spokesperson Mark Schieldrop on Thursday, who explained some of the difficulties facing drivers over this long weekend,
