ELYRIA, Ohio — The Lorain County Sheriff's Office says a man is in custody after being found with a gun outside an Elyria elementary school around noon Thursday.
According to a release from Sheriff Jack Hall, a parent of a Westwood Elementary School student called police after noticing the suspect with a firearm in the visitor parking lot. Deputies arrived within minutes and "tactically removed" the man from his vehicle, where they say they found a loaded 9mm handgun "with an extended magazine" and a sealed-off serial number under a seat.
The suspect — identified as Lorain native Daymarion Donte Whitten — was arrested and taken to the Lorain County Jail on multiple felony charges. Court records show he was previously convicted of robbery, which means he is not allowed to own or carry a
