Fountain City Council voted this week to recognize the 1905 Woodman Hall as a local historical site, the latest step in a years-long effort to bring the building back to its former glory.
Woodman Hall is one of Fountain's few ties to its early history. The two-story brick building sits next to City Hall at Main Street and Ohio Avenue.
Housing a multitude of uses over the decades, the hall is a major landmark in the cultural fabric of the city, according to Tamara Estes, councilmember and head of the local historical society.
"It connects people to the community," she said.
The city has created a video about the history of the building that can be found on its YouTube page.
