AUSTIN (KXAN) — Think of it as the city's roadmap—a 30 year vision for growth in Austin. The city's "Imagine Austin" plan covers everything from transportation goals to arts and culture to land use.
As Evelyn Mitchell, principal planner with the city's planning department, explains it: "Imagine Austin is our city's long range plan."
That plan hasn't been updated since 2012, and a lot has changed since then. That's why Austin City Council gave a thumbs up to the city's planning department Thursday to give Imagine Austin a revamp.
“This update to Imagine Austin is about making sure our city keeps a sense of possibility and connection as we grow. It’s about holding on to what makes Austin special, while thinking big and planning smart for the future," Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said.
