Edmonton Police say a man was taken to hospital after a stabbing in north Edmonton Thursday morning.

According to EPS, the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Canadian Tire at 96 Street and 162 Avenue around 9:30 a.m., when two men got into an argument where one male stabbed the other unprovoked and then fled on a bicycle.

A 64-year-old male was treated on scene by EMS and transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police say he is now in stable condition.

After a description from witnesses, police arrested a 33-year-old man.

Police believe the two men were not known to each other. Police are continuing to investigate, and charges are pending.
