SUFFOLK COUNTY — Michael Howell, 65, of Brooklyn , was convicted Tuesday on Long Island on multiple charges of sex trafficking, promoting prostitution and drug possession, prosecutors said.
Authorities said Howell used crack, heroin and physical violence to force a woman into prostitution from April 2023 to February 2024, renting hotel rooms and posting ads online. He was arrested Feb. 1 with fentanyl and cocaine in his possession, according to Greater Long Island News .
Howell, originally of Barbados, faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced Sept. 26. Federal immigration officials have lodged a detainer to deport him after his prison term.
