WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Grab your cellos and your running shoes this weekend because Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestras is putting on a 5K Fundraiser.

The K.V.Y.S.O. aims to teach intermediate and advanced music students in the Central Maine area. Saturday’s race at Quarry Road Trails in Waterville works as a fundraiser but also as a way to build community within the orchestra and outside of it.

There are two concerts a year put on by the orchestras. Staff says not only do the students pick up music skills but life skills as well.
