A solar energy company's $100 million investment in Orangeburg County will also bring with it about 400 temporary construction jobs.
Silicon Ranch said Tuesday that its 100-megawatt solar farm in the county will need the employees to install the project, but says the solar farm goes beyond just these jobs.
"That doesn't account for the American jobs supported by the manufacturing of equipment that will be used at this project," the company said in a statement. "The project reinforces Silicon Ranch's industry-leading support for American-made energy through its deep commitment to domestic manufacturing, job creation and economic development: nearly all the equipment Silicon Ranch has sourced for the facility will be made in the U.S."
"We maintain a preference to the local labor pool and
