That doesn’t mean there are only three goalies in contention to man the crease for Canada at the Olympics in Milano-Cortina next February.

While Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill and Sam Montembeault may have the inside track for Olympic invites, Hockey Canada has made it clear to other Canadian NHL invites that they’re still very much in the mix.

“That’s probably the most open competition in our group right now,” said Doug Armstrong, the GM of the men’s Olympic team. “We’re here with three goaltenders because when we talked about the actual number that were going to be participating we didn’t really want to have that many goalies in one spot, so we decided to go with the three but I’ve reached out to the other goaltenders we believe have a legitimate chance and told them the thought process
