HINESVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) — The "Clear the Shelters" campaign is coming to an end but there is time to adopt a pet at Liberty County Animal Services.

"At the end of the day you're literally saving a life," said director of Liberty County Animal Services Steve Marrero.

Georgia has a high euthanasia rate for companion animals. Shelters say they have seen a significant increase in the number of animals in need of help but without the proper space, animals will have to be put down to make room for newcomers.

"We do have to, unfortunately, put down animals, which is something that is very detrimental to us," Marrero stated. He went on to say, "You know, it's something that's not good to do. So, adopting our animals versus shopping, you know, will help alleviate the process. That's being part of
