CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Thursday, Aug. 28, marks two years since an associate professor was shot and killed on UNC-Chapel Hill's campus.

Authorities say Zijie Yan was killed by one of his graduate students at a science lab on campus.

The suspected shooter was charged with murder, but was deemed not mentally fit to stand trial after multiple psychiatric evaluations determined he has severe mental illness.

University leaders unveiled the memorial in Yan's honor Thursday.
