OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Louisville Division partnered with the Owensboro Police Department on Thursday to host training for state and local law enforcement officers.

The training focused on violent crime by aiming to enhance federal firearms investigations.

Organizers say the gun crime training enables different Kentucky agencies to collaborate more effectively in bringing criminals to justice. It focused on a variety of topics including gun crime trends, federal firearm offenses, and gun crime investigations and strategies.

According to officials, about a dozen agencies from across the Western Kentucky region were represented at Thursday’s training.
