JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Johnson City and Kingsport schools are celebrating their top scores on the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System, or TVAAS.
The TVAAS measures student growth year-over-year regardless of students' proficiency on the state assessment.
A Level 5 score is "most effective," indicating that students made significantly more growth than expected.

For the fifth consecutive year, Johnson City Schools earned a Level 5 composite score.
Individually, 10 schools earned a Level 5, twice as many as earned the highest score last year.
