A man has drowned in Cultus Lake on Thursday.

RCMP said the call came in just after 12:20 p.m. about a swimmer in trouble.

Police, paramedics and search and rescue crews rushed to the Entrance Bay area of the lake near Chilliwack.

Divers found a man in the water, pulled him out and performed CPR and other life-saving measures, said Sgt. Alexndra Mulvihill of the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP. The man, however, died at the scene.

Police said no other information will be released until next of kin has been notified.
