A t around four o’clock in the morning on December 8th last year, gunmen stormed Sednaya prison, north of Damascus. They shot open cell doors, telling inmates that they had been freed. Some cowered in place, fearing a final trick by a crumbling regime, designed to lure them to their deaths.
