A 15-year-old boy who was mortally wounded during a shooting that also wounded a 12-year-old boy Thursday afternoon in the New City neighborhood has been identified.

Alex Durante, 15, was pronounced dead Thursday night, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

James Moroney had just gotten home from work and was standing on his back porch when he saw a small group of young people standing across the alley in an empty lot in the 600 block of West 47th Street.

Shortly after, gunshots rang out and Durante and a 12-year-old boy were shot around 3:45 p.m., according to Chicago police.
