BELLBROOK, Ohio (WDTN) -- A legendary WWII veteran is being honored by his hometown with a new statue.

Jim "Pee Wee" Martin of the 101st Airborne Division parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, and also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Now, his distinguished career will be on display in Sugarcreek Township.

"We've been working on this for a few years now, it's been a long time dream for a couple of us, and it's long overdue for this community," said Barry Tiffany, Sugarcreek Twp. administrator.

Tiffany helped bring the project to fruition. He wasn't just a historian of Pee Wee Martin -- he was also his friend.

"I set aside Tuesdays at 11 o'clock for him and he, it's just unbelievable what those guys went through, he was a remarkable guy," said Tiffany.
