SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Barbara Lee is Oakland's 52nd mayor and the first Black woman to assume the position. Lee officially marked the first 100 days of her term.

The mayor sat down with KRON4 and answered questions on some of the city's major challenges.

Mayor Lee took over a position plagued by political turmoil -- from a historic recall to a federal corruption scandal, deep budget deficits, and public frustration over crime and homelessness.

Recently, Oakland found itself again in the national spotlight when the president suggested he could expand his focus on crime to Oakland.
