Halcyon Elementary School is celebrating 25 years of educational excellence and service to the students of Montgomery Public Schools.
Today was a special day to educate the children about what was going on 25 years ago when the school opened in their community.
The school choir sang Happy Birthday, and each classroom received birthday cupcakes for the special occasion.
Annissia Williams is a custodian at the school, and has been at the school since opening day in 2000.
“I’d never thought I would be here that long,” Williams told Action 8 News. “I’ve seen a lot since I’ve started here.”
“Now to children, 25 years seems like a long time. To us, you blink your eyes and 25 years has passed you by, but we’ve had a great opportunity to celebrate today. Children have been engaged in activiti
