Since its inception in 1988, the house of Maison Margiela has steered clear of featuring celebrities in their campaigns — that is, until now. On Thursday, Miley Cyrus was unveiled as the new star of the brand’s Autumn-Winter 2025 Avant-Première Collection in a series of “painterly portraits” shot by Paolo Roversi.
Margiela describes the shoot as “stripped-back,” with Cyrus “immersed in the core codes and archetypal expressions of the maison,” according to a press release. A few images feature the singer’s body slathered in white body paint, which aims to pay “homage to the Maison’s white-overpaint bianchetto technique introduced in 1989” that was originally used on furniture in the brand’s studio.
