HOUSTON — The University of Houston Cougars open their 2025 football season tonight when they host Stephen F. Austin University at TDECU Stadium.

As they battle it out on the field, the two teams will share a common goal that's more important than touchdowns, tackles and game stats.

The Coogs and Lumberjacks join the Rice Owls, Longhorns, Aggies and other college football teams in Texas in honoring the Hill Country flood victims with special helmet decals.

"Standing together and wearing our hearts on our helmets. A green ribbon over the state of Texas in memory of the victims and all those impacted by this summer’s devastating floods," the teams posted on X, along with a video of the decals being added to their helmets.
