SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Thursday Savannah leaders gathered to update their Vision Zero initiative.
It’s an effort to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries across the city.
So far this year, leaders say they’ve had five traffic related deaths.
The goal of the project is to have no deaths and no injuries on the roadway.
On Thursday leaders said that they’re working in all areas of the city to improve safety, whether it’s through widening crosswalks or more traffic calming devices.
So far for Vision Zero, leaders say they’ve implemented speed limit reductions on more than 75 streets.
They’ve added two school zones, one near Oglethorpe Charter school on Central Avenue.
The other, on High Gate Road near New Hampstead K-8.
